AKA: The Page Somebody With a Law Degree Would Probably Tell Us to Put Here
Apparently, when you make mushroom-growing supplies that work really damn well, somebody eventually has to come along and remind everybody that good grain does not come with a legal force field.
So here we are.
Myco Outlet makes grain, substrate, All-in-One bags, cultivation supplies, and other useful things for people who grow mushrooms.
We make the supplies. You decide what you grow.
And whatever you decide to grow needs to be legal where you live.
Simple enough.
Our Products Work. The Law Still Applies.
We put a lot of time into making cultivation products that perform the way growers expect them to.
Our popcorn grain is prepared for strong colonization, easy inspection, and good break-and-shake performance. Our substrate is made to save you the measuring, mixing, hydrating, mess, and aggravation. Our All-in-One bags are designed to make the whole process even simpler.
Unfortunately, none of those features repeal federal, state, or local law.
A really good grain bag is still just a grain bag.
It is not a permission slip.
What You Grow Is Your Responsibility
Myco Outlet sells general-purpose mushroom cultivation supplies.
Our products may be used for culinary mushrooms, medicinal mushrooms, gourmet mushrooms, research, education, agriculture, laboratory work, hobby cultivation, and plenty of other perfectly lawful purposes.
What biological material you introduce into those products after they leave our hands is your responsibility.
By purchasing from Myco Outlet, you agree that you are responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply where you live.
And yes, laws can be different from one state, county, city, or jurisdiction to another.
“But I bought the bag on the internet” is probably not a winning legal strategy.
We Don’t Sell Permission Slips
Myco Outlet does not authorize, encourage, or give anyone permission to cultivate, manufacture, possess, or distribute controlled substances in violation of the law.
We sell cultivation supplies.
That’s it.
Think of it this way:
A hardware store can sell you a shovel.
What you decide to dig up with it is between you, the dirt, and potentially several government agencies.
Our situation is considerably more fungal, but the principle is about the same.
Some Mushrooms Are Regulated
Certain mushroom species and compounds may be restricted or prohibited under federal, state, or local law.
Those laws can also change.
Before you inoculate anything, know what you are growing and know the law where you are growing it.
Myco Outlet does not guarantee that every mushroom, culture, spore, species, strain, or cultivation activity is legal everywhere.
We couldn’t possibly make that promise.
There are thousands of jurisdictions, lawmakers change things regularly, and apparently nobody thought to consult the mushroom farmers first.
Excellent Results Are Not a Defense
We are proud of our products.
Very proud.
We hope your legal gourmet, medicinal, agricultural, research, or hobby grow absolutely crushes it.
We hope you open one of our bags and think:
“Damn. They actually know what they’re doing.”
But if our grain colonizes beautifully, our substrate performs like a champ, or our All-in-One bag makes cultivation ridiculously convenient, that does not transfer responsibility for what you chose to grow onto Myco Outlet.
Our job is to make a damn good product.
Your job is to use it legally.
That’s the deal.
Educational Information
Myco Outlet also publishes educational information about mushroom cultivation, grain, substrate, equipment, biology, techniques, experiments, and the occasional strong opinion about how unnecessarily complicated people have made this hobby.
That information is provided for educational purposes.
Discussing how mushroom cultivation works does not mean we are telling anyone to break the law.
Biology does not become illegal knowledge merely because somebody somewhere regulates a particular organism.
No Legal Advice
Nothing on this website is legal advice.
Mayhem knows mushrooms.
Mayhem is not your lawyer.
If you need an actual legal opinion about whether something is permitted where you live, talk to an attorney who practices in your jurisdiction.
Preferably one who charges less per hour than a commercial autoclave.
Orders We Won’t Fill
Myco Outlet reserves the right to refuse or cancel an order when we reasonably believe fulfilling it would violate the law, create an unacceptable legal or regulatory problem, involve fraud, or otherwise put us in a position where somebody wearing a badge might want to have an unnecessarily long conversation with us.
We like selling mushroom supplies.
We would like to continue doing that.
The Short Version
If you skipped everything above looking for the important part, here it is:
We make mushroom cultivation supplies.
We make them well.
You are responsible for using them legally.
Know your laws. Know what you’re growing. Don’t make your decisions our decisions.
And if you’re growing something perfectly legal?
Well…
You bring the culture. We’ll handle the rest.
